The Jizeu Valley trek is one of the easiest multi-day hikes in the Pamirs, not even breaking 3,000 meters at its highest point. Those who have just arrived in Tajikistan and haven’t done any trekking yet will still likely feel the altitude a bit, even at this range of 2,065 meters to 2,490 meters, making it a good practice run for treks ahead. Even with its short 15.2 km out and back distance, it’s recommended to spend a night here in Jizeu village to relax and enjoy the rural life and beautiful panoramas, but if you’re in a time crunch a day trip out and back is entirely plausible. Jizeu village is divided into two sections, Upper Jizeu and Lower Jizeu, each section scattered around gorgeous turquoise lakes fed by the Jizeudarya river. Nearly half of the homes in Jizeu operate as homestays.

Accommodation: Guesthouses / Homestays

What people say about us

  • The tour with Turat and his son Abdulmazhid was really great! Turat is an experienced driver and the itinerary that we followed was also very good. His son helped Turat on our trip and did that very good, so it was like having two guides for the price of one.  Both are speaking good English, so it was easy to communicate with them. The whole journey was not like two guides and two guests, but as a group of four friends. We had a wonderful time and will never forget this time we had together.

  • Me and my girlfriend took a trip on the Pamir Highway with Tourstans last summer, and we really had a great experience. Not only because Turat and his son Abdulmazhid are very experienced drivers and guides, but they became soon real friend for us. We drove safely, that really helped us to understand local culture and lifestyle. They were always flexible and patient to fulfill our special requests, and we also had the opportunity to visit their house and family. If you’re planning a trip to Pamir Highway, you’re really in good hands!
